Grey Limestone Blocks for Flooring or Wall

Grey Limestone Blocks can be cut into slabs, tiles, paving and wall panels. Ideal for interior flooring, feature walls, outdoor paving, facade cladding and landscape works, extensively used in villas, resorts and commercial architectural decoration projects.

Product description

Grey Limestone Blocks are among the most classic and structurally robust raw material exports in the international stone trade — a dense, fine-grained sedimentary stone quarried from ancient, fossil-rich marine deposits. Its hallmark is a refined, deep blue-grey to charcoal-slate backdrop, characterized by subtle micro-fossil inclusions, delicate calcite veins, and a uniform chromatic tone that shifts from a soft velvet blue when honed to a dark, sophisticated slate tone when polished or wet. Formed through gradual marine calcification under significant geological compaction over hundreds of millions of years, Blue Limestone is renowned for its exceptional density among sedimentary rocks, low moisture absorption, and outstanding frost resistance. Its solid structural integrity, excellent block soundness, and timeless European architectural aesthetic make these quarry blocks the material of choice for large-scale urban paving projects, exterior building facades, carved monuments, kerbstones, and luxury outdoor landscape architecture worldwide.

General Specifications

  • Category: Limestone Sedimentary Natural Stone
  • Color: Deep blue-grey, charcoal-slate, to steel-blue backdrop with subtle micro-fossil inclusions and faint white calcite speckling
  • Surface Finish Available: Saw-Cut (Raw Block) / Honed / Polished / Bush-Hammered / Flamed / Sandblasted / Tumbled / Chiseled
  • Block Form: Raw Quarry Block / Sawn-Cut Block
  • Texture: Fine-grained, dense micro-crystalline calcite matrix; compact structural body with high architectural workability
  • Density: 2.60 – 2.70 g/cm³ (Exceptionally high density for sedimentary stone; comparable to marble)
  • Water Absorption: < 0.30% (Low porosity — excellent resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, weathering, and staining)
  • Compressive Strength: 100 – 135 MPa (High compressive load capacity — suitable for heavy-duty paving and structural building facades)
  • Abrasion Resistance: High — demonstrates outstanding wear resistance for commercial plazas, public walkways, and outdoor installations

Processing & Machinery Assessment

GANGSAW & DISK SAW SUITABILITY

This block has been assessed as exceptionally well-suited for heavy-duty limestone gangsaws, large-diameter circular disk saws, and diamond wire-cutting equipment. Standard block dimensions of L-270 cm × B-160 cm × H-140 cm provide an optimal geometric profile for high-efficiency gangsaw slabbing and maximum net block recovery. Grey Limestone’s cohesive calcite matrix and consistent hardness ensure smooth, low-vibration sawing with precise dimensional tolerance, making it an ideal candidate for high-volume cut-to-size paving slabs, wall panels, and custom masonry units.

  • Recommended Processing: Gangsaw or circular saw slabbing (2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm & heavy paving slabs), followed by surface honing, bush-hammering, flaming, or tumbling for outdoor architectural applications
  • Expected Slab Yield: Approximately 70–80 slabs per block (based on 2 cm slab thickness) or 48–56 pavers/panels per block (based on 3 cm thickness)
  • Finish/Polish Result: A refined, velvety matte-honed surface that brings out its rich blue-grey hue, or a textured antiqued finish ideal for slip-resistant exterior applications
