Surface Finish Available: Rough Block

Block Form: Raw Quarry Block

Texture: Medium-fine compact granite crystalline texture with tightly interlocked mineral grains; achieves flawless high-gloss mirror polishing to fully reveal subtle crystal reflective luster; raw block retains authentic natural quarry rough surface

Density: 2.65 – 2.72 g/cm³ (High compactness; guarantees reliable structural stability and long-lasting decorative durability for prolonged indoor & outdoor heavy-duty application)

Water Absorption: < 0.19% (Low water permeability; perfectly applicable for interior flooring, wall cladding, countertops, wet areas and exterior facade decoration projects)

Compressive Strength: 160 – 192 MPa (Excellent structural strength and pressure resistance; suitable for large-scale engineering decoration and long-term high-frequency usage scenarios)

Abrasion Resistance: Great wear, scratch and stain resistance, vastly superior to ordinary marble; ideal for high-traffic luxury floors, dark-toned artistic feature walls, kitchen countertops and bespoke stone decorative furnishings

GANGSAW SUITABILITY

Angola Black Granite raw blocks are fully compatible with standard gangsaw processing equipment. Regular quarry block dimensions fit optimal gangsaw cutting ranges. The stone features homogeneous internal crystallization with only sporadic minor natural mineral cleavage and stable overall hardness. The density of silvery crystalline speckles varies between individual blocks, bringing moderate controllable processing loss. It serves as a trustworthy premium dark granite for mass slab production, engineering projects and high-end customized architectural decoration.

Recommended Processing: Gangsaw slabs (1.8 cm & 2 cm), followed by calibration, edge trimming and high-gloss mirror polishing

Expected Slab Yield: Approximately 76-86 slabs per block (based on 1.8 cm thickness)

Polish Result: Profound jet-black high-gloss mirror surface evenly dotted with subtle shimmering silvery crystalline flecks, presenting pure dark tone, delicate granular mineral texture and exclusive timeless solemn dark luxury decorative texture

About

Country and Quarry Origin

Quarry and Origin Angola Black Granite is quarried in Angola, Southern Africa. Its principal commercial extraction area is in Huíla Province, particularly around Lubango

Texture

The stone has a dense, medium- to coarse-grained crystalline texture. Its interlocking mineral structure gives it high structural stability and allows the surface to achieve an excellent polished finish. Depending on the quarry section and block selection, the grain size and crystal visibility may vary slightly

Pattern and Veining

Angola Black Granite features a deep black to charcoal-black background with evenly distributed silver-grey, dark blue or steel-colored mineral crystals. Under natural or directional lighting, the labradorite-like crystals produce a subtle shimmering effect. Its pattern is generally uniform and granular, with little or no directional veining, making it suitable for large-area installations and book-matched commercial projects.

Durability

Angola Black Granite is a highly durable stone with strong resistance to compression, abrasion, heat and normal weather exposure. Representative technical data sheets report: Density: approximately 2,789–2,830 kg/m³ Water absorption: approximately 0.10–0.13% Compressive strength: approximately 154–168 MPa Flexural strength: approximately 10.5–11.2 MPa Its low water absorption and high mechanical strength make it suitable for countertops, flooring, stairs, wall cladding, exterior façades, paving, monuments and high-traffic commercial applications. Technical values may vary between quarry sections and production batches, so project-specific testing is recommended for major engineering work

Acid Sensitivity

Angola Black Granite has good resistance to ordinary household acids because it is primarily a silicate-based stone rather than a calcium-carbonate stone such as marble. It is considerably less likely than marble to etch when exposed briefly to lemon juice, vinegar or other mild acidic substances. However, it should not be described as completely acid-proof. Strong acids, prolonged exposure and acidic cleaning chemicals may damage the sealer, affect trace minerals or reduce the gloss of a polished surface. Neutral-pH stone cleaners are recommended.
