Italian Slate Cleft Tiles for Floor and Wall
Italian Slate Cleft Tiles are natural slate tiles selected from selected European, Asian and North American slate quarry resources. The surface shows grey, graphite, ash and soft charcoal layers with fine natural bedding lines and thin layered sedimentary movement with low-gloss cleft texture, tonal clouds and restrained linear variation. With density 2.65 - 2.85 g/cm3, water absorption 0.10 - 0.60% and compressive strength 90 - 180 MPa, the material is suitable for floor tiles, interior.
Product description
Italian Slate Cleft Tiles are natural slate tiles made for projects requiring layered texture, stable surface performance and understated natural color. The selected material is associated with selected European, Asian and North American slate quarry resources; blocks are chosen for compact layered structure and stable tile yield. It presents grey, graphite, ash and soft charcoal layers with fine natural bedding lines, giving the finished tile a recognizable grey natural slate appearance for architectural floor and wall applications.
The stone body has fine-grained metamorphic slate texture with compact bedding layers, natural cleft planes and subtle mineral lines. Its visual layout is defined by thin layered sedimentary movement with low-gloss cleft texture, tonal clouds and restrained linear variation. Natural slate may show cleft ridges, fine bedding lines, mineral specks and batch-to-batch tone variation; dry layout is recommended before installation.
Slate is a dense metamorphic stone formed from compressed shale and fine mineral layers. Italian Slate Cleft Tiles are recommended for floor tiles, interior wall cladding, bathroom floors, feature walls, stair treads, fireplace surrounds and covered exterior paving. Correct sealing, suitable adhesive and neutral cleaning help maintain color depth and long-term service performance.
Category: Natural Slate Tiles
Color: grey, graphite, ash and soft charcoal layers with fine natural bedding lines; natural color variation should be confirmed by sample and dry layout before bulk installation.
Surface Finish Available: Natural Cleft / Honed / Brushed / Sandblasted / Split / Machine Cut
Product Form: Natural Slate Tiles
Texture: fine-grained metamorphic slate texture with compact bedding layers, natural cleft planes and subtle mineral lines. natural cleft, honed, brushed and sandblasted finishes emphasize slip resistance, layered texture and practical architectural use.
Density: 2.65 - 2.85 g/cm3 (compact layered stone body for tile service)
Water Absorption: 0.10 - 0.60% (sealing recommended according to finish and installation area)
Compressive Strength: 90 - 180 MPa (suitable for standard floor and wall tile applications)
Abrasion Resistance: stable wear resistance for residential and medium commercial floor and wall tile applications
GANGSAW SUITABILITY
Italian Slate Cleft Tiles raw blocks and panels can be processed into calibrated tiles, cut-to-size pieces and wall cladding formats. The stone features fine-grained layered structure and practical finished-product yield. Thin layered sedimentary movement with low-gloss cleft texture, tonal clouds and restrained linear variation help the finished tiles retain a natural slate appearance after splitting, calibration, edge trimming and surface finishing.
Recommended Processing: Split or gangsaw slabs (1.8 cm & 2 cm), followed by calibration, edge trimming and natural cleft / honed / brushed / sandblasted surface treatment
Expected Slab Yield: Approximately 76-86 slabs per block (based on 1.8 cm thickness)
Polish Result: natural cleft, honed, brushed and sandblasted finishes emphasize slip resistance, layered texture and practical architectural use The final surface should be inspected under project lighting to confirm tone, texture depth and batch consistency.
